Description:
Unit description includes 32 beds with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:6.
Common diagnoses include respiratory conditions and medical issues in adult and geriatric patients.
Experience with Med-Surg, Telemetry, critical drips, and trach care is required.
Peritoneal dialysis experience is preferred.
Candidates must be able to titrate drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Lasix, Dopamine, and Amiodarone.
Monitor Techs are available 24/7 and charge RNs will assist with reading strips.
RNs are expected to review strips each shift.
Charge nurse role may include modified patient assignments, usually with 2 patients.
Travelers may be asked to fill the charge nurse role and can be cross-trained.
Registered nurses may float to other units or the emergency department if not needed on the current unit.
Nurse aids are available with ratios of 1:10 during the day and 1:15 at night.
Registered nurses will utilize RT equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow O2.
Shifts run from 6:45 am to 7:15 pm or 6:45 pm to 7:15 am.
Scheduling will consider block scheduling requests as long as unit needs are met.
Weekend requirements include every other weekend with a set rotation.
Holiday scheduling will rotate with core staff members.
Dress code requires solid color scrubs without embroidery or patterns.
Fleece zip-ups may be worn in specified colors.
Undershirts must match the color of the scrub top.
Closed-toed shoes are required, excluding crocs.
Orientation includes a full day of nursing orientation and two orientation shifts with a preceptor.
An abbreviated initial skills checklist will be due within 90 days from the start date.
