Job Description

12-hour Nights, 4 weekend shifts per schedule; first to float, and could float to a sister facility

**Guaranteed Hours:**
36 hours per week

**Experience:**
Minimum of 2 years

**License:**
Required

**Certifications:**
ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

**Must-Have:**
Ability to titrate cardiac drips

**Job Description:**

– Travelers must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to signing a contract with a maximum of 2 attempts.
– If a traveler fails the dysrhythmia exam, they will be unable to work for 6 months.
– A pass/fail Sim Lab takes place on the first day of orientation.
– Nurses will float between all Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units.
– Floating requirements may include floating to ICU, Cardiac Telemetry, and various holding areas such as Cath Lab, ER, and observation floors.
– Travelers could float between two nearby campuses with a 15-minute commute.
– Must clock out when leaving one campus and clock in upon arrival at the other campus if floating.
– Nurses should be prepared for possible mid-shift floating.
– Orientation includes two days on the floor specific to the unit.

**Telemetry Unit Details:**

– Bed ratio: 1:3-4
– Charge Nurse and Clinical Supervisor present
– Centralized telemetry with EKG interpretation required
– Common patients include post-cath lab, post-vascular procedures, and general telemetry
– No pediatric care

**Neuro Unit Details:**

– Bed ratio: 1:3-4
– Charge Nurse and Clinical Supervisor present
– Centralized telemetry with EKG interpretation required
– Common patients include neuro post-surgical and CVAs post-TPA

**Medical-Surgical Unit Details:**

– Bed ratio: 1:4 for both days and nights
– Common diagnoses include surgical, orthopedic, and oncology patients
– Spectralink phones are used
– “New grad training unit” with a 4-week training program

**Additional Information:**

– Hospitalist rounds during the day and is on call at night
– 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services
– No designated IV team or ventilator support on units
