Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Must-Have:
– Cardiac Telemetry or PCU/ICU experience
– Ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips
– Experience with post-cardiac procedural care (Ablations, cardiac catheterizations, Post Op Day 1 Open Heart, permanent Pacemaker placements)
– Ability to administer and titrate IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone

Job Description:
– Unit consists of 29 beds with a patient ratio of 1:4
– Support staff includes Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and PCTs
– Equipment includes Alaris IV Pumps, SCD machines, Hill Rom beds, Dinamap in each room, Welch Allen Vital Machines, Wound Vacs, Temporary Pacemakers, Telemetry monitor, EKG Machine, Bladder Scanner, Doppler, and iMobile for communication
– Documentation system: Meditech
– Scheduling: Full-time hours required, including 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period
– Floating policy: Nurses will be floated to any area where competency is demonstrated
– Patient Experience: Must treat every patient with courtesy and respect, respond promptly to call lights, involve patients in bedside shift reports, teach patients how to use the phone to call a nurse directly, and ask if there is anything else to do before leaving the room

This unit offers a family-like atmosphere with tenured and new staff. Many staff members have transitioned from contract to full-time roles within this fast-paced environment. The use of iMobile, an iPhone for faster communication, allows texting and phone calls between clinicians, and real-time updates on lab results are available.
