Must-Have:
– Level I Trauma Experience
– Experience with post-op Cardiovascular Surgery Patients is highly recommended, but not required
– Must pass Dysrhythmia Exam prior to acceptance with a minimum 80% passing score
– Competent in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes

Description:
This position requires participation in a prescreen interview.

If the clinical staff recommends the candidate, the manager will review before making an offer.

The nurse will be expected to complete a skills lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.

Those who understand sterile field practices typically pass the skills lab.

Candidates indicating a lack of competency in these areas may not be a suitable fit.

In addition to the skills lab, educational training in lifts, restraints, and wound care will be provided.

Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:3 or 1:4.

RNs are required to interpret common rhythms.

Charge nurses ideally will not take patient assignments.

Patient care technicians are available with a ratio of 1 PCT for every 16 beds.

Common diagnoses include CABG, MVR, STEMI, heart failure, fundoplication, and vascular repair.

The unit allows for self-scheduling, and requests will be balanced by the scheduler.

There is a weekend requirement of four shifts in a four-week block and two out of three major holidays.

No call or standby requirements exist.

Scrub color is navy blue, and scrubs are not provided.

The charting system used is Cerner.

The hospital has a cancellation policy allowing for the cancellation of up to four shifts for a 13-week assignment.
