– Knowledge of Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips
Job Description:
– Work on a unit with 30 beds and a patient ratio of 5-6:1
– Collaborate with a team including a unit clerk during the day, 2-3 PCTs both day and night, Nursing Supervisor, and Hospitalists
– Utilize equipment such as Welch Allyn vitals neuron, Novameter glucose, Philips Telemetry and MP2s
– Document using the Meditech documentation system
– Administer medications using WOW with med drawers and PyxisES dispensing system
– Participate in a rotating schedule that requires working the equivalent of every other weekend (4 weekend shifts/4-week schedule)
– Float to other areas as needed, including general medical-surgical, orthopedic, progressive care unit, and medical-surgical surgical with oncology
– Engage in bedside and hourly rounding, ensuring the use of 5 Ps
– Procedures on the unit include chest tube management, wound vac management, and EKGs as needed
– Adhere to unit guidelines, including documentation of telemetry application, acknowledging rhythm strips, and recording them in charts each shift
– Maintain professionalism with a dress code of navy scrubs for RNs and ceil blue scrub set and jacket for CNAs/PCTs, with only solid color shirts allowed underneath
– Follow the no-pass zone policy for bed alarms, call lights, and IV alarms
Additional Information:
– Nurses on the unit have significant tenure, with some having over 39 years of experience
– There is a shared governance structure within the units and facility
