Job Description:

– Perform the nursing process as a basis for patient care, providing direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff.
– Show compassion and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional excellence.
– Assess care needs, develop a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and continually reassess plans according to care needs.
– Collaborate with the physician to provide and coordinate nursing care to individuals and groups.
– Assist in teaching persons served and families, and provide milieu management.
– Communicate with and educate families/significant others in discharge and aftercare planning needs.
– Ensure a safe and secure environment for individuals served and staff in both individual and group settings.
– Document, report, and verify all necessary information according to established policies and procedures.
– Monitor for and report any potential risk to safety that could lead to an adverse outcome.
– Promote a customer/client-friendly environment by following quality improvement standards and maintaining professionalism.
– Provide care in various clinical settings with diverse populations, identifying specific needs and implementing compassionate care.
– Function as a clinical leader by delegating and coordinating staff assignments and promoting staff development.
– Utilize and promote careful use of resources, and give input into process improvement.
– May train direct care staff and oversee medication and physical health activities in a program.
– May handle scheduling, staffing, and obtaining pre-authorizations.
– Role model the mission and values of the organization, presenting a professional image in appearance, attitudes, behaviors, time management, and communication skills.
– Provide spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients.
– In community residential settings, support and promote a recovery-focused environment and person-centered approach.
– Maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in required programs.
– Perform other duties or functions as assigned.
– May function as a charge nurse.
