**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)
**Job Specialty:** Med-Surg Adult, Med-Surg Mother/Baby, Med-Surg Pediatrics, Critical Access Hospitals
**Job Duration:** 26 weeks
**Shift:** Nights
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum 2 years
**License:** Valid, current, full, and unrestricted RN license
**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, PALS
**Must-Have:**
– Willingness to work both day and night shifts as necessary
– Ability to float between Med/Surg, ED, and ICU as required
– Ability to work for the entire timeframe with minimal to no requested time off
**Job Description:**
– Coordinate and perform a variety of nursing care procedures for patients of all ages, requiring professional knowledge and consideration of specific patient conditions and treatments.
– Make clinical decisions independently during the scheduled shift and maintain complete accountability for all actions taken.
– Promote a standard of excellence while implementing safe, therapeutic, and efficient care for patients with multisystem diseases and/or complications of treatment using appropriate infection control measures.
– Set priorities for care of patients based on acuity and/or patient preferences, and adapt to change in the area by setting priorities for emergencies or changes in patient status.
– Develop and contribute to a plan of nursing action based on existing and potential patient problems and responses, in collaboration with the healthcare team.
– Accurately administer age-specific medications and therapeutics, carrying out the medical and nursing care plan while coordinating patient care activities with physicians and other healthcare team members.
– Facilitate healing by providing nursing care that is individualized and goal-oriented, based on scientific principles and the nursing process.
– Explain tests, procedures, and disease processes to patients and significant others, ensuring effective communication and a supportive environment.
– Demonstrate knowledge of equipment use and emergency procedures, assisting with tasks such as intubations and EKG monitoring as necessary.
– Conduct educational programs and provide incidental teaching to develop skills and enhance decision-making for staff, patients, families, and the community.
– Support the orientation of new staff, travelers, and students by sharing knowledge and experience.
– Comply with all mandatory training, policies, procedures, and patient care standards, contributing to unit goal setting and participating in departmental meetings.
– Evaluate patients’ progress or lack thereof towards goals, directing new goal setting and implementing revised patient care plans as required.
– Ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times.
