Description:
The unit has 15 beds and accepts Priority 2 transfers from the ICU requiring intermediate-level care.
It employs a new monitoring system with invasive monitoring capability.
The unit can monitor arterial and central venous pressures.
The patient population includes adult and pediatric surgical and vascular clients requiring close cardiac monitoring.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3.
Key skills required include invasive line monitoring, transvenous pacemaker/chest tube management, critical medication administration, respiratory ventilation management, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and dysrhythmia management.
The position requires working every other weekend and may involve floating within the scope if needed.
Orientation is held every other week and consists of 16 hours.
Candidates should be willing to comply with flu vaccination requirements during the season from October 1st to March 31st unless medically exempt.
Modules are completed prior to the start and average 2-4 hours, with completion recorded on a transcript.
