Description:
This position requires a focus on the Cardiac/Intermediate Care unit.
Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4 during days and 1:5 during nights.
Experience in managing PCU, Stepdown, and Telemetry patients is essential.
Common diagnoses include CHF, NSTEMI, MI, heart block, pacemaker management, TAVR, and CABG.
RNs are required to titrate medications such as amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, nitro, and insulin.
Charge nurses are generally free of assignments but may take on patients if absolutely necessary.
Patient care techs are available on the unit, managing 8-12 patients per tech.
RNs will troubleshoot equipment such as BiPAP and high-flow oxygen, but will not provide intensive management.
RNs must be able to interpret telemetry readings; there will also be a dedicated monitor technician on duty.
Weekend coverage requires 4 weekend days a month, with holiday requirements of 3 out of 5 holidays.
Low census may result in call or standby requirements.
There is a structured orientation process including unit-specific and clinical education training.
Navy blue scrubs are required.
The charting system used is EPIC.
Candidates with experience in TAVR and CABG recovery are preferred.
No first-time travelers are accepted for this role.
