Description:
Position/specialty: PCU RN.
Ratios: 1:5.
On rare occasions, the ratio may flex to 1:6 and travelers will be expected to take extra patients.
Years of experience required: 2 Years.
First-timers are not accepted.
Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required as needed.
Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule period.
Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed.
Work settings include MS/Tele and telemetry.
Skills required include cardiac monitoring and emergency response with the interpretation of dysrhythmias.
IV therapy and phlebotomy skills include blood product administration and central line care/management.
Experience with IV insulin protocols is required.
Knowledge of isolation precautions is necessary.
Wound care and wound vac experience are expected.
Preferred skills include management of dysrhythmias and use of rapid response teams.
Experience with feeding tube care and management is also beneficial.
Patient diagnoses may include pulmonary, wounds, urology, cardiac, neuro, and renal conditions.
The facility is a teaching, level 1 trauma center and has received multiple accolades for excellence.
Facility characteristics: 456 staffed beds.
Scrub color: Navy.
Charting system: Epic.
Mandatory compliance modules are required prior to start.
References are required from the past year with one being a supervisor.
Failure of the drug screening to return a non-diluted result may result in assignment cancellation.
Orientation consists of 40 hours.
