Description:
This position involves working in a float pool across various units.
The units include MedSurg, Tele, and PCU settings.
Nurses may care for inpatients holding in the emergency department.
Patient ratios in PCU are 1:4, while MedSurg Tele ratios range from 1:5 to 1:6.
Common patient diagnoses include geriatric patients, ortho patients, and post-procedural cardiac patients.
Nurses will manage titratable drips, including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin.
Charge nurses will not take assignments and will be available for support.
Nurse aids are utilized in all settings to assist with patient care.
The unit is equipped with CPAP or BiPAP for night use in MedSurg and PCU settings.
Monitor techs are available to assist, and nurses must be able to interpret heart rhythm strips.
Shifts and scheduling will be handled by a central scheduler, with published schedules available six weeks in advance.
Flexibility is essential for travelers regarding scheduling.
Weekend requirements are every other week, and holiday rotation includes participation from travelers.
There is no call or standby requirement for this position.
Nurses will be assigned via text message two hours prior to their shift.
Dress code requires solid color professional scrubs, transitioning to navy scrubs in October.
Orientation includes an eight-hour day of general hospital orientation followed by 12-hour shifts in the designated settings.
Cancellation policy adheres to scheduled shifts as outlined in the contract.
Charting is conducted using the Cerner system.
A BSN is not required for this position.
