Description:
Unit/Department Float Pool includes MedSurg Tele and PCU across both campuses.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are PCU 1:4 and MedSurg Tele 1:5-6.
Common diagnoses/Types of patients include geriatric patients, ortho patients, and post-procedural patients.
Care for groin sites in the stepdown unit is expected.
Experience with post-myocardial infarction, post-cardiac catheterization, and CABG post-operative day 3-4 is required.
RNs are required to titrate drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin.
Charge nurses will not take assignments and will be present on each unit.
Nurse aids will be utilized in all settings.
Respiratory equipment includes CPAP or BiPAP in MedSurg and BiPAP, CPAP, and heated high flow in PCU.
Nurses must be able to interpret monitor strips, supported by monitor techs.
Schedulers will make the schedule, which is published six weeks out for four weeks at a time.
Travelers will need to be flexible in scheduling.
Every other weekend and holiday requirements will apply.
Units will be assigned two hours prior to the start of shifts via text message from the staffing office.
Scrub color is currently solid color professional scrubs, transitioning to navy scrubs in October.
Orientation includes a general hospital orientation followed by shifts in both units.
Charting system used is Cerner.
