Description:
This position requires working in an advanced pulmonary unit with a focus on cardiac medical care.
The unit has a mix of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical (MedSurg) patients.
It is important for candidates to have experience with patients with various cardio-pulmonary conditions such as COPD, CHF, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, pre and post lung transplant, trach-to-vent procedures, and more.
The PCU staffing ratio is 1:4, and the MedSurg staffing ratio is 1:5-6, though it varies based on skill sets.
Unit travelers may be asked to float to different levels of care, including MedSurg, PCU, and Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Every other weekend work is expected, and consecutive weekends may be required based on operational needs.
The position offers charge coverage responsibilities, with provided training and resources.
Orientation involves 12 non-billable hours.
The completion of non-billable modules, averaging 8-16 hours, is required pre-start.
The position does not accept local applicants.
Candidates must be willing to work two out of three major holidays.
The health system requires accredited certification programs for nurses.
This position is on a 32-bed unit, with 15 PCU beds and 17 MedSurg beds.
