Description:
General information about the unit includes 40 beds.
Day shift consists of 1 charge nurse, 10 bedside nurses, 4 patient care technicians, and 1 unit secretary.
Night shift consists of 1 charge nurse, 10 bedside nurses, and 3 patient care technicians.
Patient ratios are typically 1:4, with stretch staffing at a 1:5 ratio.
Patients include those with congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and those post cardiac catheterization, stent placement, pacemaker/ICD placement, or ablation.
Typical equipment includes Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, bladder scanners, and Cerner electronic medical records.
Ideal candidates are flexible, have a positive attitude, are great team players, and demonstrate compassion.
Preferred qualifications include experience with prostacyclins.
Relief charge experience is also beneficial.
Weekend and on-call duties include every other weekend.
Unit policies and guidelines will be discussed during orientation.
Floating may be required to all medical-surgical units, stepdown units, and other areas.
