Description:
This position is for a travel RN specializing in the progressive care unit for multi-trauma patients.
The unit has 20 beds and a staff of 40.
On day shift, there is 1 charge nurse and 5 nurses along with 3 techs.
On night shift, there is 1 charge nurse and 5 nurses with 2 techs.
The patient-to-nurse ratio is approximately 1:4 with charge nurses free of patient assignments.
Equipment used on the unit includes vents, feeding pumps, IV pumps, wound vacs, specialty beds, suction, and chest tubes.
The electronic medical records system in use is Meditech.
Typical procedures performed on the unit include placing chest tubes and bedside bronchoscopies.
Candidates should be team players who thrive in a highly acute patient population and enjoy challenges.
This is a level 1 trauma unit with highly complex and interesting patients.
The team consists of motivated nurses, supportive charge nurses, and great tech support on both day and night shifts.
There are wonderful physicians involved in patient care.
