Job Description
Orthopedic RNs provide specialized care to patients with musculoskeletal disorders, injuries, or conditions, such as fractures, joint replacements, or osteoporosis.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assess patient conditions: Evaluate patients’ physical and emotional status, laboratory results, and medical history.
2. Develop care plans: Create individualized plans addressing patients’ specific orthopedic needs, including pain management and rehabilitation.
3. Administer medications: Manage pain medications, antibiotics, and other treatments as prescribed.
4. Educate patients and families: Provide teaching on orthopedic conditions, treatments, and self-care techniques.
5. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: Work with physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
6. Monitor for complications: Watch for signs of infection, neurological damage, or other complications related to orthopedic conditions or treatments.
