Must-Have:
Must have travel experience.
Must have step-down experience.
Must have acute care surgical floor experience.
Med/Surg experience required.
Experience taking care of patients with new drains, wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, and feeding tubes.
Experience with post-operative care for surgical patients.
Description:
Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments.
Notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients.
Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients.
Observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary.
Administers medication as prescribed.
Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
Delivers patient care competently.
Interacts with family and patients in sharing the care plan while in the hospital and at the time of discharge.
Informs patients and families of hospital procedures.
Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
Delegates tasks to support staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Nurses for this unit need Med/Surg experience as this floor has inpatients pre or post-surgical services.
Candidates will care for patients post-operatively and need to have experience taking care of patients with new drains, wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, and feeding tubes.
Some of these patients will require step-down care as well.
Ratios are 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for step-down area.
This area serves surgical transplant patients and also has step-down patients and post-operative patients.
These patients include new transplant patients or returning transplant patients.
Close monitoring for reaction, rejection, and infection is required.
Required Skills & Experience:
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
Some computer skills are required.

Required Education:
Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited board-approved program.
