Description:
The RN Clinical Perioperative Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers.
The nurse ensures that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care.
They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by nurse managers and leaders.
The framework for practice is driven by professional practice models, emphasizing evidence-based practice and research.
RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core competencies.
RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by professional standards and ethics.
As a member of the patient services team, the nurse upholds patient voice, system policies, and service excellence goals.
The nurse performs the Nursing Process, ensuring care is individualized and coordinating care through effective partnerships.
Provides relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics.
Partners with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose.
Practices using current clinical practice standards.
Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care.
Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration while practicing fiscal responsibility.
Supports performance improvement, research, and shared governance at all levels.
Completes all professional competency assessments and mandatory education.
Serves as a preceptor or mentor to ensure there is a current and future qualified workforce.
Promotes evidence-based practice and participates in value analysis.
Upholds policies, standards, and legal requirements, including safety goals.
Participates in data collection and uses evidence to address practice questions.
Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum.
Supports the efficient use of resources.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Compliance with organizational policies and code of conduct is required.
