License: RN – Multi-state Compact or Single State
Certifications: Basic Life Support or BLS – Instructor
Must-Have: Strong proficiency in 2 of these 3 specialties: Neurology, Orthopedics, Vascular
Description:
The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers dedicated to providing individualized, high-quality, and safe patient care.
This role requires practicing in a clinical environment administered by nurse managers and other leaders, supported by a shared governance model.
Nursing practice is guided by a professional practice model, supported by core competencies and evidence-based practice.
RN Clinical Nurses must be licensed and knowledgeable, upholding professional nursing standards as outlined by relevant regulatory and accreditation entities.
This role involves representing the voice of the patient and supporting system policies and procedures to achieve service excellence goals.
The nurse performs the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, using evidence-based practices and analytical thinking.
Care is individualized, and the nurse coordinates care with patients and significant others through appropriate communication methods.
The nurse practices using current clinical practice standards, providing relationship-based, patient-centered care that reflects an understanding of cultural diversity.
The RN coordinates safe quality patient care documentation, employing inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods.
Teamwork is demonstrated through fiscal responsibility and promoting the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
The RN participates in performance improvement, research, and shared governance at all system levels.
Professional development includes completing competency assessments, mandatory education, and serving as a preceptor or mentor to ensure a qualified workforce.
The nurse promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and evaluates patient care products.
The RN plans patient care proactively across the care continuum, develops protocols and collaborates with care managers and other team members to achieve best practice outcomes.
Efficient and effective use of human and material resources is supported, and the nurse performs other duties as assigned, complying with all organizational policies and standards.
