Description:
Delivers nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses.
Establishes nursing care objectives.
Defines nursing interventions.
Provides physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families.
Notes changing conditions and needs.
Re-evaluates care objectives.
Assures quality care by adhering to professional standards and organizational policies.
Maintains cooperative relationships among healthcare team members.
Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
Alerts others regarding potential concerns.
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
Protects healthcare organization value by keeping information confidential.
Monitors, records, and reports symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions to appropriate healthcare team members.
Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions.
Monitors all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
Instructs individuals and families on health education, disease prevention, and management.
Reviews provider orders and communicates the nursing care plan to other healthcare providers.
Resolves patient issues by conferring with involved parties.
Promotes a culture of safety by maintaining awareness of patients’ safety needs.
Acts as a patient advocate by voicing concerns and adhering to safety practices.
Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories and examining patients.
Administers medications and monitors patients for reactions or side effects.
Prepares patients for exams and assists with procedures as needed.
Explains procedures and discharge to patients and families to ensure understanding.
Recognizes adverse signs and symptoms and reacts appropriately in emergency situations.
Supervises and delegates duties to unlicensed assistive personnel and ancillary staff.
Assures compliance with accreditation standards regarding national patient safety goals.
Completes any other duties as needed to fulfill the organization’s mission and values.
Attends assigned nursing courses as required.
