Description:
This position involves providing care in a 39-bed unit.
The unit cares for patients with acute myocardial infarction, unstable angina, congestive heart failure, unstable arrhythmias, and other cardiac disorders.
It also covers CVA surgical patients and an observation unit with high turnover (36 hours or less).
The patient population includes adults and geriatrics.
RNs may also perform procedures such as cardioversion, thoracentesis, bone marrow biopsy, chest tube insertion, central line insertion, and paracentesis.
Post-Cardiac Cath and Post-Angiogram PTCA experience is required.
Orientation consists of 16 hours.
Weekend work is required every other weekend.
Holidays will require limited time-off requests.
Ratios are typically 1:5, but can increase to 1:6 or 1:7 based on staffing needs.
First-time travelers are accepted if they meet the experience requirements.
The position requires proficiency with essential drips and will involve working closely with LPNs when ratios increase.
Travelers must comply with vaccination requirements, including a flu vaccination barring documented medical exemptions.
