Description:
The unit has 24 beds with Med Surg and Tele capability on all beds.
The patient population includes adults and pediatrics, but travelers will not take pediatric patients.
These will be assigned to permanent staff.
Nurse to patient ratios are 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night, based on the level of acuity.
The unit does not have an IV team.
Respiratory therapists and pharmacy are available 24/7.
Support staff includes telemetry technicians, charge nurses, health unit coordinators, and patient care technicians.
Nurse managers conduct rounds but do not provide direct patient care.
There is a hospitalist in-house 24/7.
Nurses may need to float to other medical surgical units and take medical surgical overflow patients as needed.
Charting is conducted through an electronic medical record system.
Scrub colors can vary, except all black.
Scrubs are not provided.
