Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Medical Surgical setting.
The role involves caring for adult and geriatric patients, with occasional pediatric cases.
Common diagnoses include diabetes, pancreatitis, pneumonia, and patients requiring IV antibiotics, therapy, or wound care.
Nurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1:3 to 1:4.
There is a charge nurse on each shift who takes an assignment as needed.
Patient care technicians are available on the unit, with a ratio of 1:8.
Self-scheduling is allowed with manager approval, with shifts typically running from 0630 to 1900 or 1830 to 0700.
Weekend requirements involve working at least every third weekend, with holiday requirements subject to unit needs.
Floating to the emergency department may be required during high volume periods.
The dress code is navy blue scrubs, which are not provided.
The orientation consists of two days specific to the unit and department.
Success in this department requires a willingness to assist wherever needed and a strong teamwork approach.

All requests for time off must be submitted upfront, with limited additional time off approvals during the assignment.
The position may have shift cancellations up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment.
Experience with EPIC charting system is preferred.
