Job Title: Oncology Nurse

Must-Have: Proficiency in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing

Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Oncology Nurse to join our team.
The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients diagnosed with various cancers.
Our unit specializes in providing treatments such as chemotherapy, clinical trials, brachytherapy, and CBI.
We focus heavily on infection prevention protocols and patient falls management.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric patients with cancer diagnoses.
Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
Administer chemotherapy treatments and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
Participate in clinical trials and assist in data collection and documentation.
Perform specialized procedures such as brachytherapy and care for neobladders.
Implement infection prevention protocols and ensure a safe environment for patients.
Monitor telemetry readings and interpret dysrhythmias, responding appropriately to changes in patient conditions.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and utilize rapid response teams as needed.
Perform feeding tube care and management, including IV therapy, blood product administration, and central line maintenance.
Utilize computerized charting systems to accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Med Surg/Telemetry nursing.
Proficiency in interpreting dysrhythmias and providing appropriate interventions.
Experience in oncology-specific procedures such as chemotherapy administration and brachytherapy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Preferred certification in oncology nursing.

Work Schedule:
Staffing ratios aim for 1:4, but may be adjusted based on unit needs.
Weekends are variable based on unit requirements.
No set scheduling; self-schedule requests are accommodated to ensure a balance of preferences while meeting unit needs.
The first week of orientation is Monday to Friday dayshift.
The second week consists of on-unit orientation with a preceptor.
