License: Valid nursing license required
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BCLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred

Must-Have:
Telemetry skills
Ability to interpret dysrhythmias
Experience starting IVs
PICC line management

Description:
The position involves working in an observation unit focused on managing patients with anticipated short lengths of stay, typically up to two midnights.
The goal is to provide high-quality and efficient care while avoiding premature discharges or admissions.
Patients will include those boarded from the emergency department in observation status.
Candidates will deal with stable patients who are unlikely to require an upgrade in care.
The aim is to achieve patient discharge in less than two midnights.
The providers in this unit will include Advanced Practice Providers and supervising Medical Doctors.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 with a charge nurse included in the assignment.
Available resources will include Registered Nurses, Patient Care Assistants, and Unit Care Assistants.

Floating requirements include occasional assistance with inpatient Medical Surgical telemetry patients in the emergency department awaiting transfer.
Orientation will be provided for new staff.

Patient diagnoses managed by this unit include dehydration, electrolyte abnormalities, nausea and vomiting, chemotherapy symptom management, acute kidney injury, palliative care, urinary tract infections, syncope, and post-procedure observation.
Special procedures may involve transition to hospice and PEG tube or line placements.
The observation unit aims to deliver comprehensive care for patients with a specific focus on keeping care efficient and effective.
Candidates must comply with credentialing requirements and complete necessary processes expediently after contracting.
