Experience: Minimum of 2 years of surgical unit experience is required.
License: Current nursing license required.
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH required.

– Interpretation of dysrhythmias
– Management of dysrhythmias
– Use of Rapid Response Teams
– Blood Product Administration
– Central line care/management
– Peripheral line care/management
– Surgical drains
– Nasal cannula
– Non-invasive airway management
– Isolation precautions
– Wound care/Wound vac
– Titrate cardiac drips
– Titrate vasoactive drips

Description:
The nursing unit focuses on pre/post-operative surgical patients.
Ratios are 1:6 for surgical/medicine inpatient patients.
Requirements include every other weekend shifts.
Contract staff may be assigned to respond during catastrophic events or disasters.
Wide range of patient diagnoses includes cellulitis, appendicitis, cholecystitis, and various traumas.
Special procedures performed include cholecystectomy, appendectomy, and hernia repair.
Special equipment utilized includes wound vacs, chest tubes, and NG tubes.
Expect to float to other units based on skill sets and census.
Candidates must be comfortable floating without restrictions or special requests.
Must pass EKG testing prior to starting the position.
Fatigue policy in place: no more than 5 consecutive working days or 60 hours in a week.
