Must-Have: General Med/Tele skillset including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, tracheostomy care, peripheral IV starts, chest tube management, nasogastric tube placement, and drain/tube management.
Description:
Registered Nurse in MedSurg/Telemetry.
Facility has 874 licensed beds and is a Level I Trauma center.
It is a teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center.
The facility is Magnet designated.
Patients include those with head/neck and gastrointestinal surgeries, such as tracheostomies, laryngectomies, hernia repairs, colorectal surgery, cholecystectomies, appendectomies, and ostomy takedowns.
The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 1:4-6.
Requires strong skills in medication drip management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and intravenous fluids.
Nurses will read telemetry monitors and respond as needed; there are no dedicated monitoring technicians.
Traveling nurses must be prepared to float to multiple facilities within the designated region as necessary, based on patient care needs.
Weekend rotation and holiday work requirements will apply, with travelers expected to work 75% of holidays.
Nurse’s scrubs should be navy in color.
