Must-Have: General Med/Tele skill set, including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, tracheostomy care, peripheral intravenous starts, chest tube management, nasogastric tube placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management), and patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) pump management
Description:
This facility has 457 licensed beds and is a Trauma Level III center.
It functions as a teaching hospital.

The ratio for RNs is 1:4-5, with CNAs on days at a ratio of 1:7 and nights at 1:10.
Support within the department includes a supervisor and charge RN who are free-floating.
A resource team and hospitalists are available 24/7, though not dedicated to this unit specifically.
Phlebotomy is a collaborative effort between RNs and the IV team.
The facility uses an Electronic Medical Record system (EMR) named EPIC.
IV Pumps utilized include Alaris, and medication dispensing is performed using Omnicell.
Traveling between facilities may occur, with time compensated if floating mid-shift.
Orientation consists of two days of departmental training.
Scrub color is navy blue.
