Job Title: Medical/Surgical Telemetry Nurse

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Must-Have:
– Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
– Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
– Ability to care for patients with tubes/drains
– IV start skills
– Experience with blood products
– Wound care/dressing changes

Description:
Licensed for 457 beds.
Level 3 Trauma center.
Stroke center of Excellence.
Bariatric center of Excellence.
Chest Pain Center.

Department Information:
Average census of 51 patients per day.
Will accept first-time travelers.
Department culture emphasizes teamwork and accountability.
Patient types include chronic diseases, specialties in CHF, mental health, addiction services for patients requiring IV antibiotics, COPD, diabetes management, wound care, and geriatric care.

Support within the Department:
Includes a Nurse Manager, Administrative Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, staff RNs, CNAs, Clinical Mentors, Rapid Response RNs, and House Supervisors.

Technology/Equipment:
Uses EMR: EPIC.
Department-specific equipment includes scales, GBS machines, transfer devices, vein finders, EKGs, crash carts, language interpreters, telecommunication carts for online assessments of patients, and Dopplers.

Floating Policy:
Travelers will be required to float to other facilities within the region and scope of practice as needed.
If floating mid-shift, travelers will be compensated for the travel time between facilities while remaining on the clock.

Orientation Information:
Includes 2 days of departmental orientation.
