Description:
We are seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical/Surgical/Telemetry unit.
The unit consists of 35 beds with an average census of 22.
The facility holds 109 licensed beds and is classified as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center.
Patients may present with general medical/surgical needs, including strokes, CHF, COPD, respiratory illnesses, diabetes, post-surgical care, and behavioral health issues.
Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:5 for RNs and LPNs, and 1:10 for CNAs.
Experience with post-op care, TPN, PPN, and general Med/Tele skills is required.
You should be comfortable with NIH assessments, chest tube management, IV starts, trach care, NGT placement, and management of various drains and tubes.
You will manage PCA pumps and wound care as part of your daily duties.
Medication management includes cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids.
Support within the department includes CNAs, receptionists on day shift, phlebotomy, and a Resource Nurse as staffing allows.
Telemetry monitoring is available, but RNs will need to read their own telemetry strips when floated to other units.
Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice.
You will have the opportunity to work with advanced technology, including an EMR system, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems.
Orientation will consist of department-specific training.
Weekend rotation is every other week with no on-call requirements.
Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays.
Requests for time off (RTO) can include up to six days off, excluding holidays, and this time will be added to the end of the contract if not met.
