Description:
The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers.
The focus is to ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, and safe patient care.
The role includes practicing in a clinical environment supported through a shared governance model.
The framework for practice is guided by a professional practice model and evidence-based practice and research.
RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by organizational values.
All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the relevant professional nurse practice acts.
They implement the scope of practice and code of ethics standards put forth by nursing associations.
As part of the patient services team, individuals uphold the voice of the patient and system policies while supporting service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
The RN Clinical Nurse performs the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
They provide care using evidence-based practice, ensuring that care is individualized and coordinated through effective partnerships.
Patient-centered care is adapted to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity.
The RN Clinical Nurse partners with patients and significant others to keep them informed and make their goals the focus of the plan of care.
They practice using current clinical standards and coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care.
Teamwork and collaboration are essential, and the RN demonstrates fiscal responsibility while promoting recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
The RN participates in performance improvement activities and supports interdisciplinary processes.
Professional development is fostered through completion of mandatory education and serving as a preceptor or mentor.

The RN promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing.
They uphold organizational policies and procedures and participate in data collection to address clinical questions.
The RN proactively plans for patient care across the care continuum while supporting efficient use of resources.
They participate in the development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes.
Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
