Must have applied for an Alaska nursing license before start date if not already obtained.Certifications: – Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Cert – American Heart Association- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Red Cross (to be obtained within 6 months if not on hire)- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart AssociationMust-Have: – Competency in recognizing adverse signs and symptoms and acting promptly in emergencies.- Knowledge of pharmaceuticals and their effects.- Skills in operating and monitoring medical equipment.- Strong communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others.Job Description:- Perform a variety of nursing care procedures, requiring professional knowledge and independent completion of assignments.- Provide support to individuals of all ages and their families during antepartum, postpartum, labor stages, newborn baby care, and care of post-surgical C-section patients.- Utilize after-hour call services, holidays, and weekends; respond to all emergencies including trauma and fetal distress C-sections.- Make sound nursing judgments in emergency environments and maintain accountability for all actions.- Promote safe, therapeutic, and efficient care for patients with multisystem disease and/or complications of treatment.- Manage nursing procedures, administer medications, and coordinate patient care activities with healthcare team members.- Facilitate healing by providing nursing care that is individualized and goal-oriented.- Communicate effectively with patients and significant others; provide counseling and support.- Monitor patient progress, direct new goal setting, and implement revised patient care plans as needed.- Plan and coordinate patient care from post-surgical recovery to discharge, including teaching and self-care demonstrations.- Offer breastfeeding support and assist with OB-related procedures.- Engage in ongoing education to maintain current standards in fetal heart monitoring.- Communicate with healthcare team positively and constructively; guide and support team members.- Perform as Contact RN, leading assigned RNs, LPNs, and CNAs; contribute to nursing action plans based on patient needs.
