Job Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse

Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:00 – 06:30)
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty required; strong labor experience and comfortable with postpartum experience preferred.
License: Current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of California.
Certifications: Current BLS certification; AWHONN Fetal Monitoring, ACLS, NRP, and hospital conscious sedation certification required within six months of employment and recertified every two years.

Must-Have: Basic computer skills.

Description:
This position requires the care of women from childbearing through geriatric years and infants up to 28 days of life.
The staff nurse will supervise and coordinate care with other disciplines.
The nurse must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients.
The role includes accurately charging for patients and unit supplies.
The nurse will administer and control narcotics and medications, and IV fluids according to policy and procedure.
Effective communication with all members of the patient care team, including patients and families, is essential.
Compassionate care to patients acknowledging physiological, psychological, and developmental needs is expected.
Correct and safe techniques in the use of office and patient care equipment must be demonstrated.
The ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise, and professional manner is required.
An individual plan of care specific to each patient must be developed, and nursing actions prioritized logically.
Documentation of patient assessment, plan, interventions, and patient response must be appropriately completed in clinical records.
The nurse will evaluate outcomes for patient care and consult with other providers as required.
Maintaining a clean, neat, and safe environment in patient care areas is essential.
Management of information effectively, along with providing a concise and accurate report at the end of the shift, is expected.
An appropriate and complete assessment for each assigned patient must be performed utilizing specific assessment techniques.
Effective leadership by directing and/or delegating tasks to other members of the health care team is necessary.
Willingness to perform other duties and innovations as assigned is expected.
Potential exposure to blood and body fluids is a requirement of the role.
The role requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and lifting patients.
Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
This position requires maintaining compliance with all competencies, license certifications, and education requirements outlined by regulatory agencies.
