**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)
**Job Specialty:** Labor and Delivery (L&D)
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** Night Shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
**Guaranteed Hours:** Not specified
**Experience:** Minimum of 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred
**License:** RN License in state of employment or compact
**Certifications:**
– Basic Life Support (BLS)
– Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
– Current certification from NCC in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or one of the following AWHONN courses: Intermediate FHM, Intermediate FHM Instructor, Advanced FHM Instructor, or Instructor Trainer at the time of hire for experienced nurses.
– Current STABLE certification from one of the following courses: Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor
– Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
**Must-Have:**
– Ability to perform unit-specific competencies for the designated unit’s patient population
– Anticipate and plan for admission/discharge/transfer needs to facilitate patient flow
**Job Description:**
– Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
– Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
– Administer medications and treatments; monitor for side-effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed.
– Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
– Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers.
– Utilize critical thinking skills for assessing basic physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of patients and families.
– Plan, direct, and evaluate the overall nursing care and functions during an assigned shift.
– Incorporate patient safety practices/guidelines to promote a safe environment resulting in positive patient outcomes.
– Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare-related laws and regulations.
– Follow specific standards and associated clinical procedures to provide evidence-based nursing care.
– Utilize appropriate systems to document incidents and participate in immediate investigation, analysis, and reporting in real time.
