Shift: 12-Hour Nights, with 4 weekend shifts per schedule + first to float, potential to float to sister facility
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 4 years
License: Required
Certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Must-Have: Experience with C-sections and computer charting experience, preferably with Cerner
Job Description:
– Applicants must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to accepting an offer, with two maximum attempts. A passing score of 80% is required.
– Completion of a pass/fail simulation lab on the first day of orientation.
– Study guides will be provided.
– The unit comprises 18 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) rooms, 14-bed obstetrics triage, and 8-bed antepartum.
– Average deliveries range from 8-10 per day.
– There are 2 fully equipped OR suites on the unit for C-sections.
– Nurse to patient ratios are mostly 2:1 depending on acuity. Antepartum can be 4:1, C-sections 1:1.
– Use of Cerner for electronic medical records.
– Fetal monitoring system: Fetal Link.
– Charge nurse team includes 13 charge nurses.
– Weekend requirement includes four weekend shifts per schedule.
– Voluntary call or standby options.
– Holiday coverage is encouraged if possible.
– Scrub color: Blue.
– Floating may be required to Mother/Baby or Postpartum as needed.
– Floor-specific orientation provided for one week.
– Required to titrate Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate as per the protocol.
– Common diagnosis/types of patients include laboring or preterm pregnant patients.
– The facility is equipped to handle gestations of 28 weeks and greater.
– A Level 1 Trauma Center environment.
– Nurses must confidently circulate and recover C-sections; scrubbing is not necessary.
– Patients are transferred to postpartum after delivery.
– The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
