Job Description

Job Title: RN – Labor & Delivery/Postpartum

Hours per Shift: 12 hours (36 hours guaranteed)
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor & Delivery/Postpartum required
License: Registered Nurse License
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM

Must-Have:
– Labor management skills
– Ability to circulate cesarean sections
– Pre-op and PACU experience
– Triage skills
– Resuscitation of newborns
– Pitocin management experience
– Epidural management experience

Description:
Licensed for 457 beds.
Designated as a Level 3 Trauma Center.
Recognized as a Stroke Center of Excellence.
Designated as a Bariatric Center of Excellence.
Recognized as a Chest Pain Center.

The unit has 13 labor beds and 5 triage rooms.
The average daily census is 9-10 patients.

Patient Types include High Risk Antepartum, Labor, and Immediate Postpartum.
Patient ratios for laboring patients are 1:1 to 1:2.

Support within the department includes:
– Secretary available Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM
– Charge nurse available 24/7
– On-site phlebotomy
– In-hospital IV/VAT team
– Respiratory therapy available 24/7
– Hospitalist available 24/7
– Intensivist available 24/7
– OB physicians
– Anesthesia/CRNA team
– Bedside telemetry monitoring

Technology and equipment include:
– EMR: EPIC
– IV Pump: Alaris
– Medication dispensing: Omnicell
– Monitors: GE
– Unit-specific equipment: Monica Novii, Neptune

Floating requirements apply within the region and scope of practice.
Travelers may be required to float to all facilities as needed within their scope of practice.
If floating mid-shift, travelers will be compensated for travel time between facilities while remaining on the clock.

Scheduling includes a weekend rotation every other weekend.
No on-call duty is required for travelers.
Travelers will be expected to work 75% of holidays.
RTO can be approved for up to 6 days off, excluding holidays.
Any time off must be added to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours.
Shift times are 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM.
The schedule cycle is every 4 weeks.
