Job Description

Must-Have:
Drive to provide the highest quality of care to laboring patients.
Ability to support patient choice and promote vaginal birth opportunities specific to patient preference.

Description:
Unit has 9 labor and delivery beds, 3 swing rooms, and 2 operating rooms.
There are 3 beds in the obstetric emergency department.
Patient ratios are 1-2.
The unit has secretarial and tech support available.
There is a dedicated certified registered nurse anesthetist and midwife in-house 24/7.
An obstetrician is on call.
The documentation system used is CPN and Meditech.
Scheduling requires 4 weekend shifts per month.
Floating to the mother-baby unit or outside of the department may be necessary.
Patient experience requirements are to remain above 75%.
Required skills include circulating in the operating room, use of intrauterine pressure catheters, fetal scalp electrode monitoring, and administration of magnesium sulfate.
Knowledge of the JADA system and nitrous oxide is also beneficial.
Dress code requires hot pink and black uniforms.
The unit has been recognized as a Unit of Distinction.
The department has participated as a pilot hospital for quality initiatives.
The unit utilizes a laborist team model with 24/7 midwives and dedicated anesthesia support.
Personalization of the birth experience is prioritized to meet patient desires and needs.
Couplet care is performed in the postpartum unit to encourage breastfeeding and keep newborns at the bedside.
There is a level 2 NICU with a neonatal nurse practitioner dedicated to the unit 24/7.
The neonatal nurse practitioner attends all high-risk deliveries as needed.
