Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Intensive Care Unit

Certifications:
– ACLS
– BLS
– NIHSS
– PALS
– TNCC or TCAR or experience with trauma patient care
Must-Have:
– Ability to titrate drips
– Experience reading and interpreting tele/monitor strips
Job Description:
– Work in an Intensive Care Unit with 4 beds and a Nurse to Patient ratio of 1:2-3 depending on acuity.
– Common patient diagnoses include DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac conditions (rate and rhythm control), medical detox, and those requiring art lines and CVP.
– RNs are required to titrate common ICU drips and read/interpret their own tele/monitor strips.
– Respiratory therapists handle equipment like vents and CPAP, but RNs troubleshoot issues.
– The Emergency Room oversees the Intensive Care Unit; no in-shift charge nurse.
– Must adhere to a dress code of navy scrubs.
– Participate in a 3-shift orientation specific to the unit.
– Expect to work where needed during weekends and holidays.
– May float to Medical-Surgical or Emergency Room for one-on-one care.
– Success attributes include coachability, motivation, understanding and coaching in unsafe situations, and teamwork.
– Follow a 50-mile radius rule prohibiting candidates from being full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facility.
– RTO is needed upfront, with no additional RTO approved after submission.
– Hospital may cancel up to four shifts per assignment.
– Utilize Meditech for charting.
