Description:
Registered Nurse position in a MICU setting.
Focus on adult and geriatric patient populations.
Common diagnoses include oncologic emergencies, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), gastrointestinal bleed, neuromuscular disease, drug overdose, pulmonary hypertension, autoimmune disorders, and sepsis.
Patients often require mechanical ventilation and may present with hemodynamic instability.
Common treatments include pulmonary artery catheter placement, CRRT, arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, complex medication regimens, clinical trials, and plasmapheresis.
Many patients have underlying pulmonary and gastrointestinal conditions, often necessitating procedures such as bronchoscopy or endoscopy.
Orientation will include 24 hours of non-billable training.
