Description:
The unit has 32 beds with a 2:1 patient ratio.
Student nurse externs are available as techs.
A unit secretary is available Monday to Friday from 0730 to 1530.
Equipment used includes Hill-Rom beds and Phillips telemetry monitors.
The documentation system used is Meditech.
Scheduling requires 4-week schedules with 3-4 weekend shifts per scheduling period.
Floating is required as needed depending on unit census.
Advanced skills preferred include PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring, IABP, Impella, and CRRT.
Procedures performed on the unit include central line and swan insertion, as well as intubations.
The dress code involves wearing scrubs in galaxy blue, red, or black, with scrub jackets or vests only.
The unit has a growing cardiogenic shock program with providers specializing in this specific patient population.
Twelve beds are allotted to cardiogenic shock patients.
