Job Description

Job Title: Emergency Room Nurse

Hours per Shift: 36
Experience: Minimum one year in the nursing field, preferably in an emergency or intensive care setting
License: Current RN License required
Certifications: BLS required. ACLS, PALS, NRP required or within 90 days of employment. TNCC required or within one year of employment. ENPC preferred.

Must-Have:
– Basic computer skills
– Knowledge of the nursing process and its application, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care
– Ability to recognize age-specific patient needs

Description:
Responsible for the delivery of care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
Effectively interacts with patients, significant others, and other health team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
Self-motivated and capable of responding appropriately to rapidly changing patient care needs and environments.
Able to anticipate patient care and emergency department needs.
Assists providers with various procedures, treatments, and surgical techniques.
Demonstrates a professional attitude and excellent customer service skills when caring for patients and family members.
Utilizes the nursing process by demonstrating appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
Teaches patients and significant others appropriate health information in a timely manner and shares written informational material.
Performs direct patient care, utilizing established procedures, policies, and standards.
Assists patients and family members with concern and empathy while respecting their confidentiality and privacy.
Communicates with patients and family members in a courteous and respectful manner.
Assists in the orientation and training of new employees.
Helps other staff in the performance of their assignments.
Recognizes the need for variations in staffing and volunteers to fill open shifts.
Demonstrates sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns.
Cooperates fully in all risk management, quality management, and safety activities and investigations.
Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood or other body fluids.
