Certifications:
– Basic Life Support (BLS)
– Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
– Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Preferred

Must-Have:

– Ability to function in a fast-paced environment
– Basic computer skills

Description:
The RN Clinical Nurse Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers.
This team ensures that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, and safe patient care.
They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and supported through a shared governance model.
The framework for practice is steered by a professional practice model and evidence-based practice and research.
RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the organization’s values.

All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold nursing practices as outlined by the relevant professional nursing act.
They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards.
As a member of the patient services team, individuals must uphold the voice of the patient while supporting service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Provides individualized patient care using the nursing process.
Engages in assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
Promotes relationship-based, patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics.
Partners with patients and significant others to set and achieve goals for the plan of care.
Practices using current clinical standards.

Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care.
Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration within the healthcare team.
Participates in performance improvement activities to promote safe, quality patient care.
Supports shared governance at all levels in the system.

Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments.
Serves as a preceptor or mentor for other professionals to ensure a qualified workforce.

Promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research.
Participates in data collection and consultation with experts to address practice questions.
Upholds healthcare policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with standards.

Proactively plans for the care of patients.
Participates in the development of protocols and procedures as needed.
Supports efficient use of human and material resources.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all organizational policies, standards, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing.
Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing is preferred.
