Job Title – Registered Nurse – CVOR Operating Room (Cardiovascular)

Location – Reading, PA

Shift– Days

Expected Hours – 40 hours a week (8 hours a day, 5 shifts a week)

Duration – 13 weeks (extension available)

Start Date: ASAP

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to provide high-quality perioperative care to surgical patients. The OR RN plays a critical role in preparing the operating room, supporting the surgical team, and ensuring patient safety before, during, and after procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the CVOR for surgery, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterile and functional.

  • Serve as a circulating or scrub nurse during cardiovascular surgical procedures.

  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and condition during surgery and respond to intraoperative changes.

  • Ensure adherence to infection control and sterile technique standards.

  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, perfusionists, anesthesiologists, and surgical techs.

  • Document operative procedures, supplies used, and patient care accurately in the EHR.

  • Provide emotional support and pre-/post-operative education to patients and families.

  • Assist in the maintenance and readiness of surgical equipment used in cardiovascular procedures.

  • Participate in emergency cardiac procedures, including open-chest codes.
