Must-Have:

– Bachelor degree from an accredited school of nursing (BSN) or Bachelor of Science (BS). An Associate degree or diploma in nursing may be considered with five or more years of relevant experience. Must complete BSN or BS within 3 to 5 years from date of hire.
– Demonstrated management potential or middle management experience
– Master Degree in Nursing or related field is strongly preferred

Job Description:

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the quality of care and safety of patients within their area of responsibility, reporting to the Chief Nurse Executive. This role requires core competency in communication and relationship-building, knowledge of the healthcare environment, leadership, professionalism, and business skills.

– Participate in nursing and organizational policy formulation and decision-making involving staff, such as in shared governance.
– Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of health care, promoting care delivery with respect for individuals’ rights and preferences.
– Accept organizational accountability for services provided to recipients.
– Coordinate nursing care with other healthcare disciplines and assist in integrating services across the continuum of health care.
– Provide guidance and supervision of colleagues accountable to the nurse manager.
– Oversee staffing and scheduling, considering scope of practice, competencies, patient needs, and complexity of care.
– Provide appropriate orientation for new staff and give individual feedback on staff development and progress.
– Evaluate colleague performance in a fair and transparent manner.
– Develop, implement, and monitor the budget for the defined area of responsibility.
– Participate in and involve nursing staff in evaluative research activities to promote evidence-based practice.
– Encourage shared accountability for professional practice.
– Provide an open forum of communication with staff, allowing them ample opportunities to discuss issues and seek guidance.
– Perform other duties consistent with the purpose of the job as directed.
