– Ability to establish positive team morale and good interpersonal relationships with residents, families, and co-workers

Description:
Perform tasks and responsibilities within the framework of case finding and provision of supportive and restorative care under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Provide nursing skills and nursing care to an assigned group of residents in accordance with facility policies.
Augment the quality of life of the residents.
Function as a member of the nursing team and the interdisciplinary team.
Provide direct nursing care to assigned residents with complex needs related to hygiene and physical comfort, medical treatment, nutritional needs, ambulation and exercise, elimination maintenance, and safety.
Direct the care of the residents performed by Certified Nursing Assistants.
Administer medication to assigned residents with specific exceptions outlined in policy.
Administer IV therapy according to facility policy and procedures, with exceptions noted.
Prepare residents for diagnostic tests, operative procedures, and examinations.
Admit residents according to facility and unit policies and assist them in adjusting to the environment.
Participate in the Person-Centered Care planning and coordinate nursing care in the assigned unit.
Contribute to the development and updating of the Person-Centered Care Plan to reflect residents’ needs.
Assist the Registered Nurse with health teaching for residents and families as needed.
Establish positive relationships with residents and families in accordance with the Residents Bill of Rights.
Participate in unit/team meetings and quality improvement teams.
Observe the nutritional needs of residents and actively participate during mealtimes.
Assist in post-mortem care of deceased residents as needed.
