Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in MedSurg/Tele.
The facility is a licensed teaching hospital with a focus on high-acuity care.
The unit consists of 32 beds with an average census of 28 patients.
Patient types and common diagnoses include total joint replacements, colon resection, gallbladder procedures, appendectomy, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, and small bowel obstruction.
The patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:4-6 during the day and 1:5-6 during the night.
Support within the department includes a CNA for vital signs, baths, mobility, and turning.
There are systems in place for phlebotomy and other clinical support staff available 24/7.
The technology utilized includes an electronic medical record system, IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and patient monitoring systems.
The role may require floating to other facilities within the region based on staffing needs.
Orientation includes two days in the department.
Scheduling involves a weekend rotation every other week, with expectations to work 75% of holidays.
Request for time off can be approved for up to six days, excluding holidays, with an obligation to meet contracted hours.
Scrub color required for this position is navy.
