Job Description

 

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

  • Partners with relevant external agencies to establish and provide regularly scheduled clinical experiences and training programs.
  • Implements curriculum for facility clinical training programs.
  • Mentors and facilitates CNA, MA, and/or other designated facility clinical programs.
  • Collaborates, standardizes, and streamlines facility  clinical competencies program for all primary care, hospital, and long-term care clinical staff.
  • Partners with clinical leaders to establish and implement training programs that support their divisional objectives, improve patient quality of care, and support employee growth and retention.
  • Acts as key member of the HR Learning and Development program and functions within the framework of the facility Learning Center pillars of Leadership, Integration, Career Progression, and Quality of Care.
  • Maintains and manages equipment, mannequins, supplies, devices, and the areas designated for education.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required

  • Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or other U.S. state required. Direct Hire must have applied for an Alaska nursing license before start date. Agency staff must have an active Alaska license.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or associate’s degree (required).
  • ACLS, BLS, and PALS instructor certification preferred OR must be obtained within 1 year after hire.

Experience Required

  • At least 3 years working in direct patient care.
  • 2 years’ experience in an acute care setting. Hospital setting preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience as a clinical trainer or equivalent supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge of

  • Hospital Accreditation. CMS standards, DNV, and State of Alaska Board of Nursing rules and regulations.
  • Electronic health records systems.
  • Relevant and appropriate methods of delivery for educational content in person and remotely.

Skills in

  • Training and leading groups.
  • Oral and written professional communication.
  • Organization of time and resources.
  • Collaboration to develop and evaluate standards of care for patients and training modalities that are evidence based.

Ability to

  • Work independently with limited supervision.
  • Collaborate and work with a team.
  • Travel up to 25% through the consortium to implement and participate in group trainings. Travel is by jet, small aircraft, and ferry.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Instructor (ACLS) – American Heart Association, Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association, Basic Life Support Instructor (BLS) – American Heart Association, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association, Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor (PALS) – American Heart Association, Registered Nurse License – State of Alaska – Alaska State Board of Nursing
