Job Description

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Must-Have: Cardiac skills/telemetry reading knowledge, general Med-Surg RN skills including IV starts, drain/tube management, wound care, NGT placement, central line management.

Description:
Facility has 174 licensed beds and is a teaching hospital.

The unit has 44 beds with an average daily census of 44 patients.

Patient types include those with cardiac focus such as chest pain, myocardial infarction, N-STEMI, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, medical overflow, and potential stroke patients.

Patient ratios are RN 1:4-5, LPN (if applicable) 1:4-5, and CNA 1:8-9.

The role will involve managing non-titrating cardiac drips, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, and blood products.

Support within the department will include CNAs for nursing support, ADLs, ambulation, patient care, meal assistance, and other assigned duties.

A charge nurse will be available, generally without a patient assignment, with additional team lead support.

Phlebotomy and IV/VAT teams are part of the ancillary department.

The resource nurse, which includes the team lead and clinical supervisors, acts as support to the team and charge RN.

Telemetry monitoring and tech services are available 24/7 through a centralized location.

Technology includes EMR using Epic, IV pumps from Alaris, and medication dispensing from Omnicell.

Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice.

Orientation consists of two days departmental training.
