Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night and Day Rotating Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required License: Valid compact or state license in hand at time of submission Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: – No chemotherapy certification required – Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols – Patient falls prevention Description: This position involves caring for adults and geriatric patients, primarily those with newly diagnosed acute leukemia. The staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but it can be as much as 1:5. Schedules are variable based on unit needs, with self-schedule requests accepted to accommodate preferred schedules before finalizing. Orientation consists of one week of dayshift training, followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor during the second week. Skills required include telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, feeding tube care and management, IV therapy, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs. Computerized charting is done using an electronic health record system. The patient population requires a heavy focus on infection control and prevention protocols. Travelers must complete the required fingerprinting process as soon as they sign their contracts. Reference requirements include two professional references, one from a manager or director.
