Job Title: Nursing Manager/Director Job Specialty: Emergency Room and Acute Medical Department Management Job Duration: Shift: Day – 12×3 – 07AM – 07PM – 36 Hours Guaranteed Hours: Experience: Minimum 3 years of Emergency Room experience in a similarly-sized hospital preferred; 2 to 3 years of management and/or supervisory experience preferred License: Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Certification for Emergency Nursing (CEN) required as soon as eligible and within 2 years of hire Must-Have: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required or enrollment in a program to be completed within 2 years Job Description: – Oversee daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training, and development of employees within the ER and acute medical department services. – Act as the hospital liaison with all pre-hospital emergency medical services and area trauma referral centers. – Organize services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach throughout the continuum of trauma care. – Assume responsibility for the clinical and financial performance of the Trauma Program. – Manage ongoing quality and performance improvement processes related to trauma care. – Facilitate Emergency Preparedness, Emergency Department, and Acute staff meetings. – Participate in committees and task forces as assigned. – Promote and support a collaborative team approach in providing care for all Emergency Department, trauma, and acute care patients. – Provide staffing coverage as a staff nurse when needed. – Support and interpret hospital policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives. – Facilitate staff analyses and improvement plans for Emergency Department/Acute care employee satisfaction workgroups. – Monitor customer satisfaction scores and implement plans for improvement. – Oversee patient volumes, quality of care, and performance of staff to identify areas for improvement. – Maintain departmental dashboards that include information and progress on pillars of excellence (People, Service, Quality, Finance, and Leadership). – Investigate patient, physician, and staff complaints and concerns, working toward resolutions. – Complete annual performance evaluations for self and employees and implement plans of correction when needed. – Contribute to budget building and maintenance, lead cost-efficient and effective operations, and create plans of correction for any operating expenses that deviate from the budget. – Use problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills to foster effective work relationships. – Maintain required competencies for self and all employees within the departments. – Perform other duties as assigned. – Supervisory responsibilities are required.
